- Carved cassowary bone hair pin. Such a cassowary bone is used to secure a headdress by the Abelam tribe. Boiken culture, East Sepik Province of Papua New Guinea. Carved design with pigment on the front part of the bone and expressive head on top depicting the classic figure of an ancestor. Circa 1960.
