- Conversation piece, very rare, probably commemorative. Horn stamped from a reduced replica of French neoclassic painting "Hippocrate refusing the gifts of Artarxerces" by GIRODET (who made it in 1792). He painted it for his friend Doctor Trioson who donated later the painting to the University of Medicine of Paris in 1816. The scene shows Artarxerces offering gifts to persuade Hippocrate to fight a terrible epidemic which was decimating the Persian army. Hippocrate refused to work against his homeland. See on photos 3 and 4 an illustration and a silver plaque for a medicine pot.
