  • Asia
  • India
  • Width : 2 3/8 inch
  • Height : 1 5/8 inch
  • Depth : 1/4 inch
  • The comb takes a half moon shaped form on top, and has an engraved design of flowers and foliage within a geometric border. The flower probably represents the lotus which is placed in the centre of the panel. Two confronting birds are perched on the top. These are formalised representation of peacocks, the national bird of India. The top of the comb usually is hollow and contains a well which may be filled with perfume or perfumed oil. But this one has a weld stopper.
